Why Diagnosing the Cause of Bad Breath Beats Mouthwash

Treating bad breath with a swish of mouthwash isn’t going to really solve the problem. It’s best if you go to a qualified dental hygienist who can diagnose the underlying cause, says Dr. Reid L. Winick, D.D.S., founder of Dentistry for Health New York in New York City. Winick recommends using a tongue cleaner and oral irrigation (read: using a Waterpik or similar device) as a start to a healthier mouth.
