Antibiotics 101: WellBe’s Guide to Antibiotics

Antibiotics are an all-too-common part of our everyday lives. It’s too easy to ask for a prescription when you feel a sniffle coming on, instead of waiting to see if you can kick it on your own or undergoing a test to see if you really need the drug (i.e. because it’s bacterial and not viral).
In the first of our three-part series on antibiotics, we’re looking into the basics: What are antibiotics,  exactly? How do they affect your health— especially your ability to fight off disease naturally and your gut microbiome and its balance of the good and bad bacteria? If you have to take antibiotics, is there anything you can do to protect your health?
