At WellBe, we believe the hundred choices a day you make are your healthcare. To help you and your loved ones #getwellbe (Not sure what that means? Learn more here!), we pulled together a few options to give your loved ones great gifts, that also happen to encourage health! We shared some great healthy gifts last year too, so check those out if you’re still looking for inspiration!
Our panel at Deepak Homebase in April made it clear to us that the air inside our home is far more polluted than the air outside of it. We learned lots of tips and tricks to purify the air in our homes, but for rooms where you don’t get a ton of sunlight, the best choice is an air filter. A HEPA, or High Efficiency Particulate Air, filter is important because they filter out the smaller dust particles that escape pre-filter, capturing 99.7% of particles. It’s sleek design, quiet noise, and portability makes it the perfect home accessory.
Over the past year, we’ve learned a lot about the importance of sleep and how our brains are affected by exposure to digital devices and blue light at night. In a perfect world, you wouldn’t be on your phone or computer or watch TV after dark, but we realize that’s unrealistic in today’s world. These blue-light-blocking glasses are the next best thing. They’ll help to trick your brain into winding down and getting ready for sleep.
If you’ve seen our organic wine guide, you know about the pesticides and added sulfites in non-organic wine. Drinking alcohol is hard enough on your liver, throwing chemical pesticides and preservatives in there is just insult upon injury! The only health-focused wine club in the world, Dry Farm curates sustainably-grown, natural wines that are additive-free, lab tested for purity, sugar-free, and low alcohol. They’re also paleo- and keto-friendly — and delicious. See why we love them and use this link to snag some bottles for the wine-lover on your list (or yourself!).
In addition to the impact of blue light on your health, we learned a lot from our interview with Dr. Joel Gator (coming to you in January!) about how much radiation is being emitted from your smartphone, and we’re following his advice to get it out of your bedroom. Bonus: this will also curb the temptation to be on your phone just before bed! One reason why many of us say we “can’t” leave our phone out of the bedroom is that we use the phone as an alarm clock — which makes this beautiful wooden alarm clock a great gift! There’s no excuse for leaving your phone outside the room, which will help reduce radiation exposure and improve sleep. Double gift!
Making smoothies has become almost a daily habit for Adrienne since she realized she can put 10+ ingredients in each one and get a TON of nutrients first thing in the morning. And the truth is, there’s simply no better blender on the market than Vitamix. Of course, these top-line blenders can be a big investment — which makes them the perfect gift for someone special.
We learned from our panel on home pollution that plants are one of the best ways to get rid of indoor air pollution. To purify the air in rooms with sunlight — and just because they’re beautiful — give a succulent set! These tiny succulents can be put all over the home and require very little maintenance and water.
The winter is the perfect time to buy someone a luxurious Manuka Honey mask. This one is regenerative, hydrating, and nourishing and can be used one to two times a week as part of an important self-care ritual. According to Healthline,Manuka honey is a specialized honey, and is antibacterial and bacterial resistant — this means that bacteria shouldn’t be able to build up a tolerance to its antibacterial effects. It is said to heal everything from a sore throat to acne!
Another gift that helps undo the damage of cell phones and devices, this digital detox bath soak is an excellent stocking stuffer. The winter is a perfect time for baths, and this, raw, vegan bath soak will take your next tub session to the next level. It’s made with sea salt to stimulate blood flow and target inflammation, as well as soothe muscles and provide a full-body cleanse. Plus, it attracts positively charged radiation that accumulates in our bodies from electronic devices, and filters out these unwanted toxins.
If you saw our clean deodorant guide, you know why it’s incredibly important not to use conventional antiperspirants or deodorants. Throw this100% toxin-free blend of eucalyptus, ginger, rosemary, and lemon into all of your loved one’s stockings. Adrienne and her husband love using this one!
Winter is also the time of year that your skin gets dry and itchy and needs to be exfoliated. Say “so long” to flaky skin with this gentle exfoliator-moisturizer hybrid. Virgin Coconut Oil delivers skin cell-repairing proteins, while Moroccan Rose’s antioxidants and beta carotenes give deeper layers a clean sweep. The glass jar also gets the plastic out of your life — a win-win!
As many of you know, one book can change your life. Many of us have had “aha” moments and made significant changes in our habits, relationships, careers, or health after reading a book that made us think differently. Below are the books written by our 2018 interview subjects. Remember to also check out our 2017 gift guide to see all of the books from our 2017 interviewees!
